Nordic and Baltic survey reveals insights on EOSC and FAIR Data

Nordic and Baltic survey

The EOSC-Nordic project conducted its National Initiatives Survey which revealed various insights on how Open Science and FAIR data principles are prevalent in the Nordic and Baltic regions.

The survey was carried out between autumn 2019 and spring 2020 to assess the current state of national initiatives on topics such as familiarity with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles, Open Research Data (ORD) and services in the European research infrastructure and e-infrastructure landscape.

The collective results from all the regional projects, including EOSC-Nordic, has helped to better understand the stakeholders knowledge of, and attitude towards EOSC (European Open Science Cloud). The survey will also assist the EOSC Executive Board - Landscape Working Group with valuable input to a report.

The survey covered a wide range of topics such as knowledge of, and attitude towards EOSC, adoption of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data principles and Open Science.

A key finding is that majority of the respondents are familiar with EOSC and they expect EOSC to be beneficial to their organisation. Another insight gained through the survey is that organisations are in various stages of adoption of Open Science and the FAIR principles.
