New RDA Open Call Announced: RDA Working Groups

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) has recently announced new open calls for proposals in the context of the EOSC Future project. One of these calls aims to set up working groups dedicated to finding solutions to boost engagement with EOSC among various disciplines and domains. These expert groups will complement and leverage existing RDA working groups and structures. Applicants can submit proposals for ‘RDA working groups’ until 21 March 2022, 16.00 CET, via the EOSC Future Grants Platform.

In its latest iteration of RDA open calls, the EOSC Future project is accepting proposals for ‘RDA working groups’. This call targets individuals and research groups familiar with the European data infrastructure landscape and associated RDA activities.

The RDA working groups will develop and implement technical and sustainable infrastructure solutions for data sharing, exchange, interoperability and other components of EOSC. Namely:

  • enabling solutions supporting technical developments around EOSC
  • addressing social barriers to EOSC
  • increasing adoption and community participation in EOSC
  • complementing existing RDA working groups and structures in support of EOSC.

In light of the above, proposals should focus on infrastructure tools, policies, practices or products related to:

  • EOSC services (e.g. PIDs and PID policies, AAI and security coordination, service management, resource registry, monitoring and accounting)
  • EOSC Exchange (e.g. data transfer, research data or research software as a service)
  • EOSC Interoperability Framework (e.g. research description, policies, AAI, PIDs, metrics, metadata)
  • training and competence/skill development for EOSC
  • feasibility of EOSC services
  • cross-disciplinary approaches to benefit EOSC
  • alignment with EOSC Task Forces and the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda.

Where relevant or possible, applicants should consider a discipline-specific approach to the above-mentioned topics.

All in all, this call aims to set the foundations for a deeper interdisciplinary understanding and adoption of EOSC core and associated services.

What does the grant include?

Up to 10 grants of max. €15 000 will be issued during the lifetime of the EOSC Future project.

Please note that RDA working groups will last for 12-18 months.

Who can apply?

The Research Data Alliance welcomes applications from persons or groups committed to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data and other principles that RDA holds dear. Applicants can be part of a European research group, organisation or SME. Note: This call is not open to members of the EOSC Future consortium or applicants outside of EU Member States and Associated Countries.
