EOSC Portal - A gateway to information and resources in EOSC
by: Katharina Flicker, TU Wien
Science is a global endeavor: regional initiatives such as the EOSC are coordinating with similar initiatives on a global scale to ensure that scientists can cooperate globally, within academia as well as with industry. Thus, the perspective of researchers outside Europe is particularly relevant, to learn about expectations, needs and visions on the future of research and international research collaboration.
Nobel Laureate Joachim Frank, Professor, Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics & Dept. of Biological Sciences, Columbia University - interviewed by the EOSCsecretariat.eu - sees EOSC as a good model for fostering Open Science as it lobbies for legislation that curtails publishers of scientific journals in their profiteering. In his view this is one of the main reasons for the current barriers to Open Science.
