The EOSC platform is constantly evolving. The ‘EOSC in numbers’ monthly update will provide the EOSC community with a comprehensive overview of portal statistics. This includes key indicators related to the onboarding of service providers, the latest EOSC resources, what users are searching for or using, and more.

EOSC in January – An overview

EOSC is growing:

  • 209 EOSC providers
  • 330 EOSC resources

Users discovered resources from providers located in France, United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Poland, among other countries. Most of these providers represent the following domains: Natural Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Medical & Health Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Agricultural Studies.

Over the last month, the top EOSC resource categories included:

  • data processing and analysis
  • physical and e-infrastructures (compute)
  • data analysis and management
  • software
  • training and support education

These resources cover:

  • Natural Sciences
  • Earth and Environmental Sciences
  • Biological Sciences
  • Physical Sciences
  • Humanities

A closer look – Additional performance indicators

In January, the most frequent search tags used by EOSC providers were: High-performing computers/HPC, Bioinformatics, Big Data, Datacube, Climate change modelling, NMR.

The main end-users for EOSC resources were:

  • researchers & research groups
  • research communities & organisations
  • businesses
  • providers
  • students
  • innovators & funders
  • policy makers

These resources span different phases of the resource lifecycle, including 241 (in production), 31 (in operation), 32 (beta phase).

Of the 330 onboarded resources, 329 of them have reached technology readiness levels of TRL-7, TRL-8 or TRL-9. This means a prototype demonstration has been performed in an operational environment, the system is complete and qualified, and the actual system has been proven in an operational environment.

The available resources are also varied in terms of order type, including: 203 (open access), 65 (order required) and 36 (fully open access).
