In the February edition of the ‘EOSC in numbers’ monthly update, you will find a comprehensive overview of portal statistics related to the onboarding of service providers, the latest EOSC resources as well as user searches. This monthly update includes key indicators related to the geographical and thematic scope of EOSC resources, their access type and more.

EOSC in February – An overview

EOSC is growing:

  • 210 EOSC providers
  • 329 EOSC resources

Users discovered resources from providers whose headquarters are located in France, United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Norway, Finland, Romania, Bulgaria, among other countries.

These providers predominantly represent the following domains: Natural Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Medical & Health Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Agricultural Studies.

Over the last month, the top EOSC resource categories include:

  • data processing and analysis
  • physical and e-infrastructures (compute)
  • scientific research data sharing and discovery
  • training and support
  • image data processing and analysis
  • data sharing and discovery (software)

These resources cover the following domains:

  • General (generic)
  • Natural Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences
  • Biological Sciences
  • Physical Sciences
  • Humanities, Languages and Literature
  • Medical and Health Sciences

A closer look – Additional performance indicators

In February, the most frequent search tags used by EOSC providers were: HPC, Bioinformatics, Climate, Astrophysics, Big Data, Supercomputing, Machine Learning.

These providers have made a number of their resources available:

  • 235 resources: Worldwide
  • 76 resources: EU-wide

Of the 329 onboarded resources, 328 of them have reached technology readiness levels of TRL-7, TRL-8 or TRL-9. This means a prototype demonstration has been performed in an operational environment, the system is complete and qualified, and the actual system has been proven in an operational environment.

Most resources available on EOSC are virtual (116) or remote (74). All of the available resources, in all their forms, are classified according to access options: ‘free’, ‘paid’, ‘peer reviewed’ or ‘other’.
