Join us for the 3rd Open Science FAIR Conference, an international event for all topics related to Open Science
Open science (also referred to as open scholarship) is at a crossroads. Implementation and adoption are progressing, with researchers, research institutions, funding agencies, service providers and infrastructures all engaging at various levels. However, different models are emerging which produce a seemingly fragmented ecosystem and achieve small steps on top of traditional scholarly communication system. In order to enable international and interdisciplinary research, we need to ensure interoperability across communities and services while still maintaining our ability to support diversity of workflows and knowledge systems.
OSFair2021 is organized as an emblematic initiative of OpenAIRE, co-organized by key international initiatives in the area of Open Science: COAR, EIFL, Force11, LA Referencia, LIBER, OPERAS, Sparc, Sparc Europe.
OS Fair 2021 aims to bring together and empower open science communities and services; to identify common practices related to open science; to see what are the best synergies to deliver and operate services that work for many; and to bring experiences from all around the world and learn from each other.
EOSC Enhance at the OSFAIR2021
DEMO - Enhancing research through quality resources: the EOSC Portal experience for providers
- Tuesday 21 September, 12.30-13:00 CEST
- Wednesday 22 September, 18:00-18:30 CEST - Register for the demo now
The demo given by the EOSC Enhance team will showcase how a provider can successfully complete their registration and first onboarding on the EOSC Portal, as well as manage the dashboard and its main functionalities.
DEMO - The user experience in EOSC Portal: How to access and use resources through the Marketplace
- Wednesday 22 September, 12:30-13:00 CEST
This demo will offer an overview of the EOSC Marketplace user experience, improved within the EOSC Enhance project, and a tutorial on how to use the main features and functionalities to exploit a growing number of resources available to researchers.
EOSC Future at the OSFAIR2021
WORKSHOP - EOSC Core: implementation plan, expectations and contributions from different stakeholders
- Wednesday 22 September, 09:30-11:00 CEST
The EOSC Future project will develop an environment with interoperable research outputs, including publications and code, as well as access to professional data services and resources such as compute, storage and preservation. It will federate existing research infrastructure in a ‘system of systems’ approach that will support European researchers in managing the entire lifecycle of data: from sharing, managing and exploiting their own data to discovering, re-using and recombining the data sets of others.
In particular, the EOSC Future project will support the establishment of the so-called EOSC Core. “The EOSC-Core provides the minimum functionality that is required to enable the federation of data and services across domains and countries. It supports FAIR data principles by providing the means to discover, share, access and reuse data and services. These elements address key technical, cultural and policy decisions of EOSC and they must be maintained over the long term” (SRIA v0.1).
This 90-minute workshop will provide an overview of EOSC Future’s plans for the implementation of a fully functional EOSC Core, highlighting how it could support and facilitate the daily work of researchers in the future.
The input collected during the workshop will be used by the EOSC Future project to collect requirements for the EOSC Core. The workshop will be also a way to establish direct collaboration channels with the above-mentioned stakeholders.
