EOSC Symposium 2021

Implementing an inclusive European Open Science Cloud

The European Open Science Cloud has finally entered its highly-anticipated implementation phase (2021-2027). The EOSC Symposium 2021 provides a key engagement opportunity for the EOSC community.

Building on the EOSC Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), the EOSC Association is establishing a number of Advisory Groups and Task Forces. These focus on priority areas for the implementation phase.

At the same time, a plethora of EU, regionally and nationally funded research projects are carrying out activities, and actually producing key exploitable results which can contribute to this new phase.

The Symposium also offered an inclusive platform for all stakeholders to share objectives, visions, activities and results in order to shape the future of the EOSC.

The Symposium was organised by the EOSCsecretariat.eu project as part of its support to the EOSC Governance.

The present and future of the EOSC Portal at the Symposium 2021

On Thursday 17 June, George Papastefanatos (University of Athens) represented the Horizon 2020 project EOSC Enhance in the session "Sustaining EOSC", joining other key contributors to the EOSC ecosystem such as Peter Doorn from DICE and Ron Trompert from CS3MESH4EOSC.

The EOSC Symposium 2021 was also the perfect chance to learn more about the new EOSC Future project which is going to take over the operation of the EOSC Portal this year and took part in several sessions, in particular "The EOSC Symposium and beyond" on Friday 18 June. The session featured an overview of the EOSCsecretariat.eu project and the handover of next year's edition of the EOSC Symposium to EOSC Future.
