Co-creating EOSC Webinars: Fighting COVID-19 with Open Science

Purpose & Scope

The past year has seen an unprecedented pandemic spread quickly around the globe, but it has also witnessed the rise of an unprecedented scientific response, with vaccines approved within a year. Scientific research has been essential to combating this crisis, research which has been facilitated by the FAIR data and Open Science practices also promoted by the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

A prime example of this was the European COVID-19 Data Portal, which enables the rapid collection and comprehensive data sharing of available research data from different sources for the European and global research communities. This joint effort is a priority pilot to realise the objectives of EOSC.

In the spring of 2020, EOSCsecretariat.eu also responded to the urgent international challenge of COVID-19 by introducing a fast track co-creation funding program for research activities related to the virus.

In this Co-creating EOSC webinar we will hear from three of the EOSC COVID-19 co-creation funding recipients as they speak about the results of their projects and how FAIR data, open research, and EOSC can make a difference in such time constrained and important research projects.
